About Last-Child

Last-Child started in 2006 while I was a front-end engineer at Yahoo. I was learning something new every day and needed a place to store and share my notes. This was especially important as we began implementing CSS2, HTML5, and ARIA. The name references the CSS2 property and that I’m the youngest of six kids.

Over the years, the content shifted from CSS explorations to Accessibility and Inclusive Design. It’s an evolving page and will continue to shift as my research directions change.

Like many other WordPress-based blogs, it got hacked, restored, hacked, restored, and so on. I don’t want to lose the history of this site. So I’ve started it again and will gradually restore articles that have been saved via Internet Archive (donate to Internet Archive)

The information on this site is not written with generative AI. I use spell check, may use Gen AI for  suggestions, heck I may even use an AI generated image. But I will be transparent if an article was developed with extensive use of AI.

I’ve used this obscure image as an identifier of Last Child and as an avatar for many years. It’s a photograph of a shadow puppet in the Museé D’Orsay
