[...] I’m in Bangalore, India this week for a Yahoo! front-end engineering conference. It’s great to get out of the U.S. to visit with developers from other countries. Each of us bring a unique perspective, cultural background, appreciation of colors/design, icons, etc. At the beginning of the year, I predicted a new bunch of standardistas and cutting-edge programmers would be coming from areas outside of Europe, US, and Australia.
I totally agree that rounded corners MUST.DIE! I see them all over the place especially on the web (and not to mention Ubuntu with Gnome) and they're truly getting in my nerves. It's time to start being creative again and make beautiful webdesigns that don't depend on them damn rounded corners.

Great article!

Perhaps somethign you forgot to mention. At some point the last 2 years flash was a big hype! Everyone was using flash,. i think flash sites now have and will be replaced by hybrids (Ajax Driven sites) and flash perhaps may not serve the role it used to , but it will serve as a more advanced presentation tool rather than a means of interactivity.

Thanks
Andreas

[...] In December, I made a number of predictions for the 2007. I confidently predicted that Gez Lemon would discover a solution to AJAX accessibility issues. Gez had earlier defined the virtual buffer’s role in JAWS. Understanding the virtual buffer is essential for empowering screen reader users, particularly considering the number of Web 2.0 applications that depend on Ajax. Screen readers typically take a snapshot of a web page, and place the content in a virtual buffer to allow the user to interact with the content. Gez Lemon and Steve Faulkner - http://juicystudio.com/article/improving-ajax-applications-for-jaws-users.php [...]

[...] It’s been going around like a flu at the office: place your bets for the nest year’s predictions. Apparently I’ve caught it, too; however, I’m not really a Web 2.0 pundit. I’ll restrict my predictions for the future to stuff that I know about and have heard about here at Web2Corp. [...]
